Greedy planet is a podcast about food security. Based at the University of Cambridge we investigate the issues that threaten our food security and find out what people are trying to do about it.

What is food security?

“Food security exists when all people, at all times, have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life”. (World Food Summit, 1996)

But what exactly does this mean and what does it have to do with our everyday lives? In this series we plan to find out. From climate change, to food waste and genetically modified crops to food banks, we want to get to the bottom of the issues that affect our availability and access to food. We explore the problems and more importantly discover how researchers are trying to overcome these challenges to ensure global food security both now and in the future.
